Description

About Sencha green tea in general:

Sencha (steamed tea) is one of the most popular green tea varieties in Japan. Eighty percent of the finished green tea is made into Sencha tea. After soaking, the tea decoction will turn greenish-gold in color with a fresh, grassy aroma, slightly astringent, and a sweet taste.

All tea is made from Camellia Sinensis by soaking. The difference between teas lies in cultivation and further processing. Sencha tea grown in sunlight is taken from leaves. They can only be taken from the first or second harvest. Only the upper shoots of the plant are used (these are weaker and better in quality). After picking, the tea leaves are steamed to prevent oxidation processes from starting.

The next step is to dry and twist the leaves. The twist gives the tea leaf a needle-like pattern and also affects the taste.

Composition of sencha (100 gr):

  • Vitamin A: 19,000IU
  • Vitamin C: 250mg
  • Vitamin E: 46 mg
  • Proteins and amino acids: 24%
  • Carbohydrate: 35.2%
  • Fat: 4.6%
  • Rost: 10.6%
  • Ash: 5.4%
  • Polyphenols: 13%
  • Caffeine: 2.3%
