The Neptune Hydroponics compact PAR meter measures the flux of photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) in the wavelength range of 400 to 700 nm. There is a proportional relationship between the band and the number of photons absorbed in the 400-700 nm band and the rate of photosynthesis in plants, which is important for horticultural studies and monitoring plant physiology.
