Muira puama (Ptychopetalum olacoides) shredded bark

Description

Muira puama is a 5 meter tall tree from South America. The use of its root bark has already been used by traditional Brazilian Indian tribes to increase libido. Scientists began to discover the effectiveness of the herb in 1920. They soon discovered that its root and bark are rich in fatty acids, fatty acid esters (e.g. behenic acid), essential oils, plant sterols, terpenes (including lupeol), and alkaloids. Its healing properties were discovered during studies in the 1960s and 1980s. Muira puamy consumers may be interested in the fact that most of its active ingredients are not soluble in water. Therefore, it is most suitable to produce special alcoholic tinctures from the herb.
