Palo Santo wood comes from the Guaiacum officinale tree, which only grows in the coastal areas of Central and South America. Due to extensive logging, the occurrence of this tree is limited, and Guaiacum officinale resources can currently only be used with great care. Guaiacum officinale wood is called the sacred wood, Palo Santo, for a reason, as it has extraordinary properties. It is a particularly strong material, which makes it extremely durable. It is also characterized by a high resin content (up to 30%), which was used by indigenous tribes in medicine. Due to this property, this tree was called the tree of life. Regular mate drinkers especially like to drink yerba mate tea from a Palo Santo mug, and its more pleasant taste and aroma.

Note
Due to changes in humidity and temperature, the wood may occasionally crack. This is a natural property of the material, which can occur from time to time. To minimize the risk of cracking, it is worth smearing the walls with grease (olive or coconut oil) and letting the container stand for about 24 hours. It is worth wiping off the residue with a cloth or paper towel, then repeating the whole process 2-3 times.
