Description

The main active ingredients in Mulungu - Erythrina mulungu (ground bark / powder) are alkaloids such as erythravine and one of its variants, 11-alpha-hydroxyerythravine. The bark contains a whole host of tetrahydroquinolines. It also contains polyphenolic antioxidants, tannins, and bitter glycosides.

What is a mulungu?
Mulungu is a native tree in Brazil, which is also planted as an ornamental tree due to its spectacular inflorescence. It cannot stand the climate of Europe. It grows to a height of 10-20 m, in spring the whole plant is enveloped in purple flowers, and the flowers are pollinated by birds. The tree is also called “coral-flowered” by locals because its color is reminiscent of orange-red corals. It is the most common part of the Amazon rainforest in Brazil, but is also found in some places in Peru.

The product is marketed in Europe for human consumption, but due to Hungarian legislation it can only be sold in Hungary for botanical and analytical purposes.
