The Argentine pumpkin drinking pot/gourd (for mate tea) is a mate tea mug made of pumpkin that is simple and ideal for everyday use. Its upper part is surrounded by metal. When using a mate mug, pumpkins may become discolored, a natural process that occurs when tea is absorbed. The cup should be prepared before first use for longer life. The capacity of the drinking vessel is approx. 200 ml.

Preparation of the pumpkin pot
Before using for the first time, fill the mug with mate and hot water and let it rest for at least 24 hours - so the mug will set and the natural material (pumpkin) will soak up the taste of the mate. Then wash the dish and you can already enjoy your fresh mate tea. (If you use a glass or metal container for mate tea, you do not need to follow this process.)

What is a gourd?
The mate pumpkin is a vessel related to calabash made from Lagenaria, which, like the Hungarians, was used by the South American Indians for storing liquids and making musical instruments. As this is a product of natural origin, there may be differences in size and color. When used, the mate pumpkin may become discolored. This is a natural process that results from the absorption of yerba mate tea, it does not affect the use value of mate gourd. It is recommended to clean the mate pumpkin after each use and dry it with the open side up. It is a common mistake to dry a mate gourd with its opening facing downwards, so it stays moist longer and its life can be shortened. The upper part is covered with metal, so protect the mate pumpkin from damage.
